so i have all but given up watching tv. in the last month...2 hours total---maybe? but i was tired, nate was gone, the kids were in bed, the computer was with nate, i had done the dishes...sooo. i watched the last 15 minutes of american idol. wow- what a mistake. i seriously should have laid there and stared at the ceiling. there were moments i could have sworn i was watching WWF singing style. the fake arguing among the judges, the contrived sing off....give me a freakin' break. is the american public seriously that dumbed down...? apparantly so. scaaaary.
it's like the little girls and their hannah montana.... is there anything inherently wrong with it? not neccesarily so... but it is just a lack of something great. a big lack let's be honest. yesterday ari and i were reading the story of nellie bly( one of the first big female reporters). she said "oh! she's a good stong girl....like helen keller!" yeeeeahhhh! that is my girl! at 3 years old she knows what a good strong girl is--- and she knows their REAL names! the only reason our girls are satisfied with some fake version of a role model is sbecasue that is what we give them.
here's to giving our children real inspiration!!!
