i love this song! i love it so much i downloaded it from itunes and then proceeded to find out it is a free download on their site... drats. oh well- you can benefit and that makes me feel better about wasting my 99 cents. we sing this together with the kids all the time... they know almost all the words...
melts my insides.
it is a big world out there isn't it?? i can only begin to imagine what that must feel like to my little peanuts.
i want to give them arms that feel small...
a love that feels just their size.
i am not a mom who hands out a lot of pity. i tend to find if your kids see or hear you pity them then they pity themselves... and that is what they call a pity party. ;)
in response too ...
'i don't want to finish'
'my friend gets to stay up till 10 oclock'
'why can't we watch a movie?'
'i don't want to pick up my toys'
'i'm bored'
'they aren't playing nice'
i usually have an oh so sympathetic response of... 'i think you are going to be okay.' or
'you guys are just going to need to work it out'
my thought is if they don't know that YOU think they are going to be okay.. how will THEY ever know?
my goal is to raise these babies to be able to stand through hard things.
adversity is guaranteed. that thought can keep me up at night if i let it. i am raising these babies to get hurt. sickness, heartbreak, loss... these are rocks in everyone's paths.
what i can do for them is give them a brave spirit. an understanding that they are more than their circumstances. that complaining never got anyone anything except fewer friends.
it starts with me.
if i am a complainer,a whiner, an 'oh man, my life is so hard because blah blah blah' they will too.
there is a fine line between being 'real' and being annoying. i go by the
1 in 10 rule. out of every 10 feelings that come out of my mouth maybe 1 can be something along the lines of 'this is hard' 'i'm not happy about' etc.. if it is more than that then maybe i am a little too focused on myself and i'm being a big wuss... we all know those people where it seems it is ALWAYS SOMETHING.
if it's sunny it's too hot.
if it's cold they wanted to go swimming.
if they are busy they wanted to sit at home.
if they are at home they are bored.
the common denominator in all these scenarios? it's THEM!!!
if i was their momma i would tell them to get over themselves.. but i am not... so i will just think it in my head.
and i will tell my own babies...
i think you are going to be okay.
and since it is a big world and i have a little baby how about all sorts of little random baby pics because she is just THAT cute. :)
it's a big world baby... and you're little for a little while. i am not a mom who hands out a lot of pity. i tend to find if your kids see or hear you pity them then they pity themselves... and that is what they call a pity party. ;)

her sitting in this doll stroller reminds me of how i feel trying to get in pre- pregnancy jeans right now.
just. too. big.
i get a big kick out of seeing myself in her eyes... i take no blame if she grows up thinking people should have big black boxes attached to their faces or being secretly attracted to the paparazzi.
we all have our own issues to work out.
(except in my heart where you will always be my little lulu. xoxo)
