the rolling stones sing truth over my baby bump.

stiiiiillllll pregnant.
the scary thing is i feel pretty good.
and this scares me because obviously this baby won't come out until i get so desperate i cry and beg and make unreasonable promises about never losing my temper and being the best mom ever.
post due date did NOT feel like this with lucienne.
of course   a trip to italy was riding on her making  a blessed arrival and she was all happy as a clam to stay cozied up in my uterus.

waiting on a baby is so good for the control freak in me.
it's like a giant 'get over yourself' in tangible form.
it doesn't matter how good my argument is, how logical my scenarios are or how magnificent my manipulations...
it.doesn't.matter.

let us now take a moment and have eternal truth crooned over us by the legendary, endearingly quirky, and most likely high as a kite rolling stones....

 it's true.
you can't always get what you want.
but i always get what i need.

and sometimes what i need more than anything is a beautiful reminder that i am not in charge.
that i do not hold life and death in my hands.
that i don't pick birthdays.
and the free-fall in to that truth softens the blow of an even harder one...

if i can trust Him with the {birth}days than i should be able to trust Him with all the other ones too.
the ones that have more to do with figuring out how in the world to keep my patience and hold my tongue...
the ones that involve my mind racing and sorting various scenarios of futures that may or may not have any ties to reality..
the ones that i feel overwhelmed, under-heard, and run ragged.
even those days.

i can't always get what i want.
but i really do get exactly what i need.

now... let's have a baby. amen.

  3. my dear, i love your heart because you speak truth straight to mine. and, because you expose me to things i've never known before - like vintage Rolling Stones and building your own patio.

on another note altogether: Lord help me, i fear my hair looks like the drummer's! will you please tell me your honest opinion next time you see me??

    love,
not your mom, not your dad. in kearney now.
