things have been a little ca-razy around these parts.
getting ready to sell your house will do that to you.
truth: when nate informed me valentines day was in two days my response was "oh crap."
apparently that did not lead him to believe i was overly enthusiastic about celebrating a day of love.
i love love.
buuuut.......
it just so happens that this last week i accidentally left my van running the entire church service and lunch... about 5 hours. a few days later i packed everything up to go to target... including a whole bag full of returns that i schlepped in there on one arm and a baby on the other, waited in a long return line and then realized i left my wallet at home.
my brain has flown the coop.
thankfully my role in valentines day has always been somewhat minimal.
at some point the children decided that valentines day belongs to daddy.
i didn't argue.
tradition says that there are always fun treats from daddy waiting at their spots when they wake up.
i'm in charge of the chalkboard. :)
on valentines day we wear cute shoes and show off our well earned thigh rolls.
you would think nella was staring off into the future of happy valentines day dreams...
in fact she was bracing for the surprise attack dog lick.
but crazy or not... brain fried or not..
love is in the air.
you could see it in the heart shaped hair.
and the good mail day.
and of course you could see it in the eye of the tiger.
my extra special valentines day gift... a tiger shirt. rawr.
all those girls on facebook posting their heart shaped pancakes and massage gift certificates.
don't be jealous.
charlie tried to attack me repeatedly.
notice louie's look of amazement/concern.
it was frightening.
soooo... nate felt i must not be in the true spirit of valentines day since i wasn't deeply appreciative of the tiger shirt. i tried to explain that tiger shirts are totally hilar ---- particularly AFTER your real gift comes out. but the tiger shirt as the real gift?? hmmm... is it too late to order a heart shaped pancake? well. i didn't even get him a gift due to the afore mentioned target no wallet incident so i guess i can't really complain.
but then that sweet man went and disappeared. and when he came back he had a box.
a box with a little rhymey rap.
which he then performed in costume. no that's a lie.
but it did have this hometown cake shop wonder in it.
deeeelish said the girl with the heart on her head. :)
and he did give me this card with monkeys.
i think we have a jungle theme happening.
nothing says i love you you're my soulmate like a jungle theme.
am i right?
the night concluded with friends coming over and a rousing game of settlers of catan.
and i mean rousing.
by ll:30 pm we were all walking zombies and laughing at old stories about my cat.
yep. it was great. :)
and so ended valentines day.
you can keep your heart shaped pancakes ... i think i'll keep my jungle. :)

mos def keep the jungle.
ReplyDeletei mean, wow. that shirt.
loving the cutie with heart shaped hair!
and relating 2000% to leaving my car running and forgetting my wallet. omg.
Without a doubt you for sure win valentines day. The tiger is amazing and honestly would bring me much more joy than heart shaped pancakes. So you win it all.
ReplyDeletei tend to leave the most direct first comments ever, so i loved yours. and you had me at "i or sure thought you WERE about 18!"
ReplyDeletei'm twice that and some.
so glad to "meet ya!"
(btw- i responded via email with this, but it appeared to have bounced back. so if you get it twice i'm not crazy...well not entirely).
my brain flew the coop years ago, which is why i gave up on valentine's day.
that tiger shirt is HILARIOUS. your husband is fuuunny.
and those thighs!! adorbs. wish i could get away with that now.
I ALSO got a valentine card with a monkey on the front...just one...HUGE it was...what are these men folk trying to tell us...what is the underlying message here...I can't wait till my anniversary now...
ReplyDeleteLove the baby thighs. My friend told me to check out your blog. The pictures of your kids are priceless.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how I'm going to wear my hair next year on Feb. 14. Do you think I could pull that off at 42? Absolutely!
ReplyDeleteAnd the shirt??? speechless.
