the junk in my trunk

another fall favorite....
the nebraska junk jaunt... once a year is just not enough. i was thinking about why i like it so much... why the thought of secret treasure stashed away...dusty, passed over, useless... gives me goosebumps. the thrill of the hunt. seeing something that once was get to become again. i love it. big time. last year we were still in the camry. so i packed up my family, including a husband and a 1 and 4 year old and set off to hit it big on the back roads and small towns of central nebraska. sounds brilliant.

i did find good stuff though. a huge old map.. already on backer board for um-- excuse me $1. just imagine fitting that into the camry.
my favorite part is that someone circled hawaii... a worthy goal in my estimation.

while you are at it add my bedroom rug for $5.

oh and this ancient old  tool chest in aqua($6)... what old man paints his tool chest aqua? an old man with a penchant for the awesome that's who.

last year i got the baby stool... and this year i went back to the same spot and they had one one size up in a similar chair with no back. so now we have the baby and momma red stool. and they live happily ever after together again. see the junk jaunt reunites families. totally worth it. ;)

so this year i got smart. first off we have a van... which lends itself to treasure hunting very well. it is humorous fitting a 3x5 foot map and an 8x11 rug in a small backseat with 2 kids...humorous but not smart. this year i also went out with just the baby and one prego friend. they were much better company for our chosen activity. for some reason the other members of my family just don't get all that excited about piles of broken chairs. weird.

the haul... i was pretty happy. :)
so next year... who wants to come???? :)
