so i'm out. i am completely out of things to say. top five draws a blank. do you have questions? ideas? requests to stop this ridiculous journey of irrelevant information? ;)
so for today we are going really random. as in ...
top 5 random bits of information about me that i can think of right now...
1. i have notoriously flimsy ankles. of all the body parts that could be cursed with too thinness i got ankles. nice. :) they have always been this way. i used to have an ankle aircast basically as an outfit accessory. i love them for the way they shape up in heels.. but strength is not their strength. i fall over very easily. they roll and twist with any little bump, rock or light breeze...it's a blessing and a curse.
so this morning i got all sorts of excited because nate was still in pajamas and it was nearly noon. he works from home and is still one of those showers obsessively people.. meaning.. like.. every day. he showers and gets ready every single day. it's weird. ;) so i am always bugging him to just chill and hang in his pajamas for awhile. why do i like this? i have no idea. that's a weird quirk for a different day. but i was excited at the sight of his pajama pants and started doing a little song and jig declaring a pajama day.. and right there the ankles gave out and sent me crashing to the floor at nate's feet. when i recovered i had a nice sprain to show for it... darn you flimsy ankles.
2. we lost power last night. candles, books by headlamp, a good old fashioned power outage. :)
and the thunderstorm from yesterday that killed my power turned into snow today. there is snow in my strawberry patch. in april. sounds about right. ;)
3. i am a terrible sleeper. this is a genetic problem. i come from a long familial line of terrible sleepers. it's unfortunate but true. so i am very protective of my 'shut down' time. it takes me about 2 hours from being 'up' to being able to fall asleep. so i can't have big emotional talks, or fights, or deep spiritual discussions, or even mention monsanto or the state of our food supply past say 10 pm if i have any hopes of not being up past midnight...to help me fall asleep i watch 1980's detective shows. specifically magnum (was there ever a question??) and simon & simon. i have a little travel dvd player by my bed and if i am having trouble falling asleep i pop one of those dvd's on. i have conditioned my brain that with the rolling of the theme song, my lids start to drop and i rarely if ever make it to the end. why those guys? because i love them. the 80's.. the mustaches.. the somewhat innocent story lines... the beach. all of it. that's normal right? i am sure there are lots of girls my age into 1980's detective shows.. it would make total sense... i just haven't really met any yet. ;)
4. on a scale of 1- 10 how crazy do you think it is to pack up 3 kids and drive 3 days to florida and stay for a month??? 'cause i'm doin it playas!!!! :) that's right.. we are going to beach bum our way to paradise.... with about 96 potty stops along the way. i did convince a friend and her little baby to ride this magic carpet ride with me... and i am afraid she is in for it. we are a herd. she is a sweet little mama with one little baby.
i grew up down in good old alligator country and this chance came up to see my dad and if i am going to get us all down there then i am for sure going to stay long enough to get one serious tan. :) nate will stay and hold down the fort. and feed the cats. and become a workaholic for a month. and miss us. i will miss him, and swim in the ocean. and be the sole parent to three small people off their regular routine. and miiiissss him. but when adventure calls you get your brave face on and you remember that she doesn't come around every day. you rock it out... and ummm... did i mention that our house is about 5 blocks form the beach? oh okay.
so yeah.. when life asks do you wanna? you say yes. :)
5. me, my camera bag, and 3 friends are going to oklahoma in 2 weeks!!!!! ashley ann's snapshops workshop... also known as the mecca of shooting in manual. goodbye pretending i know how to use my camera. hello all you funny little letter settings that mean nothing to me. :)
her registration packet was even cute. she's cute. her packets cute. her blog is too cute. cuuuuute.
grayson reminding me that on the list of things to bring.. yourself is really key. good to know.
i am so excited. i might have already started putting together a play list featuring songs that mention oklahoma. it's possible. :)
so random list = complete.
my ankle hurts.
i am going to learn how to use my camera and then take it florida where i will let my babies run in the sand of my childhood. the winter outside my window reminds of pushy perfume ladies at the mall. not asking just spritzing.
i am tired now and magnum is waiting. night night. :)

Pretty sure I can tell (even if by candlelight) that I love your kitchen
ReplyDeletewhere is this workshop? I live 5 miles from the OK border and I have an old manual camera that was given to me that I have no idea how to use.
ReplyDeleteSorry bout the ankle. I used to wear high tops in the 80s for the reason. (They were also in fashion then so it was helpful). ; )
I have had this post up in its own little tab, waiting for me to sit down and read it. Then I just got your comment. :) We are on the same wavelength!
