wonder tot turns one

we celebrated luci's first year of life this last weekend.
grammy and grandpa came to smooch on her...

i got all sorts of crazy with my wonder woman theme. i now know more about wonder woman than i ever imagined there was to know. i delved deep into the underworld of the comics people. there are actually individuals spending quite a bit of time in chat rooms arguing over when exactly and on what island wonder woman recieved her power of flight. weird-o.
i went with a vintage wonder woman... she was a little less in your face with her..uh..assets. the mid century wonder woman was definitely more my style. i bought this old 1962 comic book off ebay to use for some of the decorations.. when i saw this one i freaked out.... wonder tot!?!? wonder girl?!?! who knew such things existed... perfection. you know..just me and my girls..saving the world from gone awry swordfish.

the traditional first birthday carrot cake cupcakes... with a wonder woman spin. :)
i have promised to share this recipe for awhile.. but this post is too long. so i promise... tommorow. recipe for healthy but declicious carrot cake coming right up. schwear.

i just copied and blew up the cover of the comic book.. cut out the characters and title, backed it on poster board and taped them to skewers... insta 3D cake topper. my inspiration came from the one charming party blog. that's where i also got the idea to do 'hero' sandwiches for dinner. although i am fairly certain very few people got my funny joke.. :)
these are actually rings the kids could take home after they sucked every little last bit of frosting off them :)

i like my front door to say welcome to wonder woman world. that reminds me... how long is too long to leave  pow, thwip and boom signs for your mailman's enjoyment? i feel like it's my little way of encouraging him to rock his mailman day. pow.

meanwhile... back at the superhero creation station there were capes and crowns and bracelets of power to get your superhero strength on. :)

hobby lobby sells this metallic paper that i just curled around a pencil until it got tight and then it just gripped your wrist. the capes are cut out felt with velcro tabs and sticky back felt for the initials.

arianna had one request.. that there was sky and clouds for wonder woman to fly through. ummmm. kay. this was my best shot at the interpretation of that vision... blue streamers with white puffy poms. i used martha's tutorial to make the poms.

when will gets invited to a superhero party.. he takes it very seriously... :)

ari was the self appointed wardrobe stylist at the superhero creation station.

group shots were attempted and failed...

lucienne made short work of her cupcake.

wonder woman has some wonder leg moves as well...

games for babies = putting the wonder woman rings in and out of a jar. fun times. :)

being a baby superhero is really hard work.
so our last few days have been filled with superhero play and drama.
the cuffs of strength have been used for good and evil.
the lasso of truth has fulfilled it's purpose.
and the capes have been called upon for the power of flight.

the red boots have no inherent powers.. unless making mommy squeal over cuteness counts.

this was a ceremony bestowing gifts upon the wonder tot. very serious business.

could someone please tell this girl's parents to get her a bigger bike?? sheesh... how embarrassing. :)

wonder tot rarely felt very wonderful wearing all her accessories.
the crown bit the dust the minute she remembered she was wearing it.

arianna was especially excited about the lasso of truth. we are perfecting our lasso skills daily. and then after lassoing me she asks me a question that i have to answer truthfully. this could get dangerous. ;)

so basically these days i'm all tied up, telling the truth, and eating carrot cake for breakfast.
it's a pretty hard life. :)

  1. you have the most AMAZING ideas and the ability to pull them off. You should seriously start a party business. But then, that would take to much time. Your little family is very blessed to have such a Wonder Woman for a mom.
