i felt like a fraud.
so i thought before we went there-- to those rosy corners of my past... we should take a nice hard look at my right now. my first trimester, survival is the goal of the day reality. mmkay?
this would be the "top bun" hairdo i stumbled upon when googling "what to do with dirty hair". day 3 dirty. nate found it interesting that instead of showering i took the time to google. it's not time. it's expended energy. google is finger energy only. i can handle that.
these are one of the two pairs of muk luks in rotation... and by rotation i mean everyday. i have had these since high school. WAY before old navy had ever heard of them. they are the real deal and they love me.
those would be the other ones.. and this would be the preferred pregnancy crash out spot when there is a fire going. toasty.
and this is what happens while mommy crashes out..
kids run crazy.. in boots and diapers.
and babies teach themselves to read and begin chapter books of their own accord.
and the sweet daddy goes to the store returning with 13 pounds of fruit for mommy's absolutely necessary giant fruit salad.
okay then. 3 more weeks. we're going to make it. it's going to be fine. because sometimes survival is good enough. sometimes survival is awesome actually. there will be time enough for thriving... i am good with for surviving.
now... how about some vintage treasure hunting?? :)
my mom-in-law and i went treasure hunting on the junk jaunt and she brought her pickup truck. which was a great/dangerous idea.
there was sumthin' 4 everyone....
including this little guy for me. :) riiiight. that's what i need -- to downsize from my van to a bug. :)
old books... ari once sat here and looked at books for 45 minutes. she sat perfectly still and drank them in so long that her neck froze up and she couldn't look left for a few hours.
the junk jaunt score.
i'm not sure what face that is i'm doing. the look at my cool junk face probably. yee haw.
but seriously--- look at my cool junk. i can't even tell you how much i spent because you might hate me.
let's just say if you left the house with $50 in your pocket you would come home very, very happy. i guarantee it.
and since we are on the subject of doing things that seem laughable at this moment in my life...
how about a little re-styling? a little sewing? actually getting dressed? let's get crazy.
problem: my favorite cardigan got a big run in one of the arms.
so i cut off the arms... this gave me a fun vest that i forgot to take a picture of me wearing and two long tube arms.
after sewing up the hole and stitching the bottoms i had leg warmers... and a baby that wanted in on some photo shoot modeling.
she's got moves... and she knows it.
sometimes i wish i was a makeup on weekdays kind of girl. then i remember i just don't care enough.
energy for leg warmers is great.
time for junk jaunting is great.
fruit salad is really great.
but
babies
are miracles.
and i would choose one of those any day. :)

Love this so much.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling well soon... Another baby- what a wonderful gift!!!
I've been reading for awhile, but for some reason my comments just wouldn't post before. In fact, I'm assuming this one is going to- as I type it. ;)
Your writing and photos have blessed me so much. <3
Lauren you are AWESOME!!! I see you have awesome leggings on in some of these pictures where did u get those? I love your leg warmers...and well everything you got at the Junk Juant...and your top bun...because these last few weeks...I have been pulling off that hair due myself!
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful for your comment on my blog, Lauren! I don't know if I would have stumbled upon your fantastic blog so easily. I'm loving it! And you look great, even with 3 day dirty hair (I recently went 1 WEEK without washing it because I couldn't find the time and I've only got 2 kids!) and no makeup.
ReplyDeleteYou look good, three days dirty. I and yes, I DO happen to hate you for your fabo junk. Thanks for asking.
ReplyDeleteCongrats. And the last pic is a keeper. Love it.
ReplyDeleteway to rock that 3 day dirty hair, wilma flintstone.

thanks for letting me know where i WANT (NEED) to be (with my truck) end of september 2012. i've been dreaming about the worlds longest yard sale out east for evah. AND NOW THERE'S SOMETHING CLOSER. THIS IS TOO GOOD!!!
Love this post! & I love the photos of you in the mirror. I too wish I was make-up weekend kind of gal.
ReplyDeleteum, my hair is completely awful if i skip one day. which i often have to. which depresses the cuss out of me.
ReplyDeletebut. as you've reminded me, babies are miracles. i have one and i wouldn't trade him, not even for clean hairs.
your kiddos, oh the precious. and WHAT is the deal with boots and dipes and no pants? my boy is all over this trend.
love you, praying you are relaxed at this moment, and thankful you have such yummy food:)
i just don't think i can get enough of the luci 'oooh' face. truly, and you joining in with leg warmers and funny hair? yes please, happy tuesday to me:)
ReplyDeleteI almost fell off my chair when you said that google is finger energy only and showering required a little more than you had. My poor hubby has never understood that one. First Trimester pregnancies are just for surviving. and you Rock surviving with such grace. : )
ReplyDeleteI'm TOTALLY jaunting with you next year. :-)
ReplyDeleteyou are freaking cute. and so are your babies.
ReplyDeleteoh Lauren I always look forward to your posts! Wonderful pictures, endearing wording, and a sweet family. Hope the end is in sight for the sickly preggo tummy :)
ReplyDelete3 days w/out shampoo is just as much a miracle as a baby growing inside. you go, girl. you rock that toats adorbs prego look of yours
ReplyDelete<3
that vintage shop looks amazing! I collect old tea cups so I'm particularly fond of the piles and piles of them you have pictured! And I'm all about the 3 day dirty! I find some pretty interesting hair-do's because they hold so much better when your hair is dirty :)
