some things just don't go as planned. sometimes you have all the best intentions to write your eight great years post ode to your husband on your anniversary and instead.... your son decides to initiate pukeyfest 2010. so as he sits in the bathroom watching charlie brown christmas and i mourn the loss of my magazine collection that he seems to have aimed directly for... i will sing the praises of my love one day late.
8 reasons eight is great:
1. curling up with nate and watching hulu with ice cream can actually be a really fun date
2. we started referring to the office/guest room as 'the dorm room'. we watch movies in there, talk in there, escape in there... the room has magical powers. i actually turn 21 in there. it's amazing... now all we need is a mini fridge.
3.we have been dreaming together. dreaming big... letting our heart unfurl in the great unknown... together.
4. we became van people and enjoyed it. we are getting older, arriving in different life stages together and making memories that we will reminisce over in our rocking chairs in front of cracker barrel when we are old and road tripping in an RV instead of our minivan.
5. we are new and old at the same time... we are comfortable and well worn and yet many a day i still feel new. insert cheesy line >>> i do sometimes still get butterflies. well i do. :)
6. he believes in me. he supports me. he wants our happiness more than his happiness. he wants to see me learn and grow and love in all the ways i need to and is willing to sacrifice to make that happen.
7. we are parrents of all these kids... sometime i look over at him and it seems like 10 years ago and some how we got roped into babysitting all these little people and i think... oh sheesh we're in for it like we really know what we're doing. and then i realize we do. most of the time. somehow we grew into responsible parents that clean up the yuckies instead of laying newspaper over it. there was the one incident where i just closed the bathroom door and waited for nate to get home... but i was pregnant and feel that should get a pass. ;)
8. eight is great because love can be this good and yet get better. what could be better than eight? maybe eighty... i will be 104 and yes he will only be 102 and he STILL won't let me forget it. i see rocking chairs, holding hands, laughing, crying and love.
eight is great... but i'm holding out for eighty. :)
